2008
Excellence Award Winner
The
first annual Excellence Award winner was announced at the
annual dinner in May. The award recognizes a MBBA-NH member
who provides outstanding service.
This year’s winner is Mark E. Chalifour,
Vice President, Merrimack Title Co., Inc. Congratulations
to you, Mark! Carolyn Sandford of Residential Mortgage
Services nominated Mark for this prestigious award.
The following is being reprinted from
the annual dinner:
There
is so much to say about this special individual. But
where to start? Perhaps I should start at the
beginning. First he is proud of his French Canadian
heritage, having grown up on the Westside of Manchester,
where he attended Catholic schools, and having a keen
interest in history and a tremendous memory for details,
he went to St. Anselm’s college and majored in history.
Soon
after that he began his career in banking, where, like
most of us, he ended up in the mortgage department.
That was 28 years ago, and he is still in the mortgage
finance industry.
On the
way, he married his college sweetheart, had three
wonderful children, and developed quite an interest in
volunteering in his local community. In fact, his
generosity to his community was honored by the City of
Manchester with its 2004 Volunteer of the Year award.
Community involvement was not his only interest, he also
had time for the MBBA-NH. He has 20 years on the Board
of Governors, Past President, course instructor for 15
years, past chair of the education committee, treasurer
for 11 years, and current finance chair.
Other
accomplishments should also be noted and include Eagle
Scout, Justice of the Peace, and a Certified Mortgage
Professional designation.
I am
sure you are all wondering, “Who is this special
person?” Do you think he deserves MBBA-NH’s 2008
Excellence Award? “YES!” Well, I agree with you, and
his name is Mark E. Chalifour, CMP, Vice President,
Merrimack Title Co., Inc.
Thank
you, Mark, for your generosity to your community and the
mortgage finance industry. Your outstanding
qualifications truly fulfill the requirements of the
2008 Excellence Award.
Receiving this award doesn’t mean that you can now
relax. Instead, we challenge you to keep expanding your
leadership skills within your community and elsewhere.
Congratulations Mark!
