New Hampshire Banking Department Reduces
the Types of Mortgage Licenses from Five to Two
New Hampshire
Senate Bill 223, which became effective on September 12,
2005, brought about several efficiencies in the licensing
process in New Hampshire. Where there were five (5)
separate type of licenses for mortgage business, now there
will only be two (2).
The five that have been combined were
first mortgage banker, first mortgage broker, first mortgage
banker/broker, second mortgage broker, and second mortgage
home loan lender. From September 12, 2005 on, the Banking
Department will issue only two (2) types of mortgage
licenses: a mortgage banker license and a mortgage broker
license.
A person licensed as a mortgage banker
may conduct first and second mortgage business in New
Hampshire in the capacity of a mortgage lender or a mortgage
broker. A person licensed as a mortgage broker may conduct
first and second mortgage business in New Hampshire in the
capacity of a mortgage broker only.
This is an excerpt from an article
written by Mary L. Jurta, Director of Consumer Credit, New
Hampshire Banking Department. The article appeared in the
Banking Department's Newsletter, Summer 2005. Please visit
the Department's Web site,
www.nh.gov/banking, to download a copy of that
newsletter.
MBBA-NH’s Tag Line: Building a Strong Foundation

After much time and thought (actually years!), the Public
Relations Committee is pleased to announce the MBBA-NH’s

Many thanks to the Public Relations
Committee who worked tirelessly over the past year or two by
not giving up until the perfect tag line came forth! The
members include Andrew Cadorette, New Hampshire Housing

Services; Carol Jordan, First Horizon Home Loans; and

Tentative
Agenda for the February
2006 Annual Joint Mortgage Conference
Please mark
your calendar for the 2006 Annual Joint Mortgage Conference
at the Center of New Hampshire, Radisson Hotel in
Manchester, New Hampshire, from Wednesday, February 8,
through Thursday, February 9, 2006! For the first time,
we’re offering three-tiered pricing: one for the Wednesday
evening exhibitor reception, one for the Thursday all-day
workshops, and one for the full conference.
Everyone is
excited about the new, central location that will
accommodate more than twice as many exhibitors than last
year’s Portsmouth location. As a result of this change, a
record-breaking number of exhibitors have signed up so far,
compared to this time last year.
On
Wednesday, the exhibitor cocktail reception is from 3 to 7
P.M. with lots of appetizers and carving stations. An
enjoyable and fun atmosphere will be created in the exhibit
hall by dimming the lights and providing hip background
music from a live jazz band; all while you’re meeting and
greeting the exhibitors, your friends, and colleagues.
We are
pleased to offer something new on Thursday. There will be
three tracks: 1. Mortgage Bankers/Bankers, 2. Loan
Officers, and 3. Mortgage Brokers. Each track will have
two, one hour workshops devoted to their interests. In
addition to the tracks on Thursday, everyone is invited to
attend the general sessions, which include: Mortgage
Bankers Association Chief Economist Doug Duncan’s Washington
Economic Update, FBI Agent Gary S. Cacace’s Strategies for
Preventing, Detecting, and Resolving Mortgage Fraud, and
Increasing Production through Referrals.
Many thanks
to the Annual Joint Mortgage Conference Planning Committee:
Cindy Baron of Sugar River Savings Bank, Ben Niles of
Freddie Mac, Andrew Cadorette of New Hampshire Housing,
Bonnie Leclerc of Franklin Savings Bank, Tricia Eveleth of
Popular Financial Services, Aaron Ritter of White Peak
Mortgage, Kurt Strandson of Beacon Mortgage, Brad French of
Commonwealth Financial Network, David Eaton of Eaton
Partners, and John Lindgren of CTS Financial.
Be on the look out for the conference registration form,
which will be mailed to you at the beginning of December.
